V MAR® 1

Finish-enhancing admixture

Product Description

V-MAR® 1 is a liquid admixture for concrete that can be used to modify or enhance the performance of adverse or harsh mixes. This includes mixes with inferior sand or aggregate shape and grading as well as mixes with manufactured sands and secondary raw materials. V-MAR 1 should be used in conjunction with a water-reducing admixture for maximum benefit in a concrete mix.

V-MAR 1 is based on organic polymers and is manufactured under closely controlled conditions to give a consistent product. One litre of V-MAR 1, a caramel-coloured aqueous liquid, weighs approximately 1.01kg ± 0.02kg at 20ºC. V-MAR 1 does not contain any chloride or triethanolamine.

Compatibility with Cements

V-MAR 1 can be used with all types of portland cements and it is effective in concretes containing fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag and silica fume. For use with special cements we recommend that you consult your local GCP representative.

Product Advantages

  • Enhance the finishability of slab-on-ground concrete applications.
  • Reduce concrete bleed.
  • Pumpability-enhancing admixture that reduces friction and improves lubrication of a concrete mix.
  • Assists with concrete placement, either by direct truck discharge or by pumping.
  • Improve cohesiveness and workability of fresh concrete.

Effects of Over-dosing

In any situation where over-dosing is suspected, a careful inspection of the concrete in its plastic state should be conducted. Consult your local GCP representative if over-dosing is suspected.

Packaging

V-MAR 1 should preferably be stored protected from frost. If the product does become frozen, it should be carefully mixed after thawing to restore it to its normal state.

Shelf Life

Store at temperatures between 5ºC and 35ºC. V-MAR 1 has a shelf life of at least 12 months.

Compatibility with Other Admixtures

V-MAR 1 should not be premixed with other admixtures. The performance of V-MAR 1 may be affected by the presence of other admixtures. All admixtures are to be added to the concrete mix separately.

The use of V-MAR 1 in combination with a water reducer will produce low levels of air entrainment. If DAREX® AEA® is used in a mix the dose may need to be reduced or in some cases eliminated. Trials are recommended to obtain optimum performance.

Method of Use

V-MAR 1 is supplied ready for use. For optimum performance always add up front with the batch water. Avoid adding V-MAR 1 to a dry mix.

Dispensing Equipment

Please contact your local GCP representative for further information regarding the dispensing equipment for this product.

Health and Safety

V-MAR 1 is formulated from chemicals which present no fire or health hazards. If, however, it is spilled, the floor will be made slippery and should be washed down immediately with cold water. For further information, see V-MAR 1 Material Safety Data Sheet, or consult GCP Applied Technologies.
